Subject: Umm …
“Domino is really not useful for web developers” is not exactly the most intelligent comment. Since “web developers” can be trying to do a whole lot of different things, then indeed there may be SOME web developers who find SOME aspects of Domino unhelpful. Some web developers, however, will find the integration of Domino web functionality on top the of strengths of Notes as a great help. I know I do! Does that disqualify me as a “web developer”?

“Marky”
Web developers have the choice in Lotus Notes to develop the “look and feel” of their web-site using ANY tool they are comfortable with and then apply that look and feel to their ENTIRE web-site with a couple of clicks.
The point behind a Lotus Notes web-site is to hand the power of content creation to the people who need to manage that CONTENT, while the web developer only needs be concerned with the overall presentation of that information. “Other” web development tools require the web developer to perform both roles. Add some simple Domino work-flow into the content management equation and you have THE BEST web site management tool available. Oh. I didn’t even mention security … did I?
One change to a form and literally hundreds of thousands of pages of content can be changed immediately. Take this forum as an example.
You comment (it definitely didn’t qualify as a question) seems to indicate that you don’t understand the concept of a content-driven web-site and certainly a lack of understanding of the power of Domino.
Find your local LAEC (Education Centre for IBM Software) and enrol in a Designer course, you would undoubtedly benefit from the education.
Regards,
Mat.

In Domino you can make your web pages as simple or complicated as you like.Simple way- You can use it like word/frontpage
Complicated- You can write your own HTML/Javascript and CSS files etc.

and further…
Domino + Tomcat + servlets + Notes Java API + …
Much more efficient than other web servers

So what exactly seems to be your question in this post?
Subject: Well it looks like Marky the troll got what he wanted !!!

You don’t have any idea what you are talking about. If Domino designer is just like MS Word, then go ahead and use MS word to develop your application.

They don’t have bad product. They only have bad developers!
If you compare Domino with MS-Word for web developement, … YOU have a serious problem!.
Your comparison is useless.

I am from Arkansas so I must be slow, but let me see if I got this right. I have a 100% web based application. I take my forms and just create them in Domino then attach a CSS sheet so that I do not have to do any formatting and have better control across all my pages look and feel and only a single place to make changes. (hmmm, sounds like good web development)…I have a drop list of functions the users can do, and a button. When the click on the button I use Java Script and the XML Dom to run a backend Lotus Script Agent and my agent passes XML back to the front end. I then parse the XML Returned and update the document without having had to submit it. Sounds like good web development to me…then another button calls a Java Agent (I wrote it in Domino) which takes values from the Web Page and passes them as an object through to a JAR File that I wrote in eclipse (isn’t domino 8 and sametime 7.5 eclipse based…more good web development practices) which connects to our host system via MQSeries Queue’s and updates data base records then returns me back a message for the end user which then gets sent back to the Web page via XML and displayed to the user.
And other then the JAR file I wrote this 100% in the Domino Designer.
So which part of that application or development process was not useful Marky? (isn’t that a dog’s name?)
