Domino Console not visible via RDP Connection Anymore

I have two Domino servers, one is version 8.0.2, the other is 7.0.2. They are both running on Windows 2003, R2, SP2 servers. I used to be able to remote desktop to them using the Remote Desktop Console and I would see the Domino server application window running.

Yesterday, I remoted to the servers and the Domino server window is not visible on either server even though they are both running fine. The application is visible when I physically go to the server and logon but not via RDP. There is an option on RDP to connect to the console, which is checked. I thought the cause may have been the most recent Microsoft patches but I did remote to the server after patching it and was able to see the Domino window.

There was an error regarding kvoop.exe a week ago but that refers to Symantec and I remoted to the server after that error and the Domino window was visible. Any thoughts?

I’ll be restarting the servers tonight.

Thanks,

Greg

Subject: Check the version of the RDC client.

Depending on the version you have to use the /CONSOLE or /ADMIN switch to get the actual server console.

/CONSOLE is the old switch

/ADMIN is the new switch

Subject: Admin Switch

Hi,

Using the admin switch allows me to see the Domino screen now. I never needed to use it before so I’m guessing the latest windows updates changed the way RDP works. Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards,

Greg

That /admin switch just got me out of a hole as well
