Domino Cluster: ICM or SafeLinx?

Hi colleague gurus.

Hope you're all doing fine and staying safe.

Noticing that ICM is still available, and that SafeLinx is also available:

If considering implementing a Domino Cluster, which scenario is best suggested referring to Web Access ?

Setting up ICM or deploying SafeLinx ?

Key points to take into consideration are:

  • Domino 12.0.1 IF1 is running (Non Partitioned), servicing Verse 2.2.0a with a few iNotes users, and a couple of Domino web-accessible apps.
  • Traveler 12.0.1 is running (on the same Domino box), servicing only mobile users (no HTMO), and should be made available too.
  • Connections 7.0 is running (currently, only 1 HTTP server, but about to implement a second HTTP server for HA), servicing also Docs for Verse preview and online editing (among other features/apps, like Communities, Files, etc.).
  • Sametime 11.6 Standard is running (Only Communities and Proxy, currently only 1 Proxy server and 1 Community server).

Or is SafeLinx completely out of the game for this scenario and we should indeed rely con ICM or IHS (IBM HTTP Server) or even other solution (nginx?) for all web services ?

Thank you very much for your always accurate help, suggestions and guidance.

Sincerely,

Elvis.

Hello Elvis,

it depends on the licensing model of the customer. If the customer is on CCB I definitively would suggest HCL SafeLinx instead of configuring an ICM or any other issue.

With SafeLinx you have a full supported solutions located in the DMZ where especially your requests ( Webmail, Traveler and also Connections ) have been integrated very well.

Hope, that this opinion will help you ;-)

Hello,

Im i missing something, did Hcl eleminated ICM on Domino 12.0.2 ?

Best regards,

ICM is no longer included with Domino 12.0.2. However, you could go with SafeLinx, as it has an HTTP access service and Verse HA has been added.

Components no longer included in this release V12.0.2 :
