Domino backup: best strategy?

G’day!

We got to implement a backup of our Domino server. At the moment we are using ARCserve 11.5 for our other backup jobs.

After reading several postings here stating that the open files agent for Lotus isn’t really needed in this case I would like to know what you think way to go should be:

  1. using the Domino agent for ARCserve anyway (maybe just not having excuses in the case a restore won’t work)

  2. using ARCserve without the Domino agent (subject to it will properly do the backups without the agent)

  3. using any other backup software that’s better suited for this task. Recommendations welcome!

Best regards,

Wilton

Subject: Domino backup: best strategy?

We use ArcServe without the open files agent and it works just fine. That’s not to say it’s the best thing out there, but for the money it does the job.

We’ve also got Backup exec for our separate file servers, and I reckon ArcServe’s easier to use, even though the management tools are very slow (although you probably know about that already).
