Dear all,
I’m upgrading in my company all the IBM Domino servers from 8.5.2 to 9.0 But sadly one of our business partner doesn’t want to upgrade, they are still at 7.0.2 and we are working fine with our 8.5.2 and their 7.0.2 so far. I’m not confident 9.0 will work fine with 7.0.2. I will create an environment with 2 servers with these 2 versions, basically I will test the replication. But I guess the data will flow good but the desings will impact them there.
Can you guys tell me your feedback here, major problems by continuing this approach. So I can focus my testing
Subject: re Domino 9 working with other Domino versions
If you are running a release of Notes/Domino prior to 8.0, you should upgrade to at least Notes/Domino 8.0 before installing and upgrading to Notes/Domino 9.0. Upgrading from prior versions may work but is not tested or officially supported.
Should be inter-operable, even with allowing latest designs of system databases to flow freely… I have 6.5.6, 7.0.2, 8.0.x, 8.5.x and 9.0.x Servers in our development domain and works just fine…
Obviously, you would want to due as much validation as you can before production if you can and get on that Business Partner to catch up to 9.0.x ASAP.
It should work, names.nsf and other system dbs are designed to be replicated even if the other replicas has a different design, what you need to look out for is the replication of the design it self a v7 might not have the capability to handle db replicas froma v9 server
