I need to revert to 8.0.1
So after playing with 8.5 I wanted to uninstall. The uninstall crashed.
I can run it the uninstall again, it says that 8.5 has been un-installed. BUT nothing has actually been done.
So I’m stuck with a broken 8.5 installation. I cannot install 8.0.1 again as IBM have seen fit to block that. I get told I have to remove the earlier version. I cannot.
I have tried re-installing 8.5. That works. I go to uninstall. Again, nothing happens, the program is NOT uninstalled, actually I cant see any sign of ANY action whatsoever.
So I am stuck with it, I cannot remove it, I cannot replace with 8.0.1
So … what to do? I guess I have to stick with 8.5… try to run it? Cannot, no LICENCE file…
Stuck, totally, cannot use this machine.
WHY WHY do you insist on destroying one of the nicest things about domino. It could live without the registry till you got your sweaty mitts on it.
If you MUST use the registry, for gods sake LEARN HOW TO DO IT.
This has been 4 hours of my precious leisure wasted.
Subject: Domino Install
Could you please look for (and post here ) these items:
1)uninstall.log (if any - in the Domino program directory.
2)list contents of the _uninstall folder in Domino program directory
3)registry keys under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lotus\Domino
4) file vpd.properties in your “windiws” folder ( usually c:\windows\vpd.properties)
Work with registry is done by ISMP installer and is standard, not customized by us in any way. However, the picture you observe can be caused by other problems than registry key manipulation.
Stuff happens, vpd.properties (the proprietary ISMP database), registry keys or installation can be corrupted for some reason or other.
In any case - I hope we can help you with your problems.
Thanks,
Irina Khasin
Subject: Umm…
You didn’t install 8.5. You installed 8.5 Beta 1. Beta.
Congratulations - sounds like you found a bug. Search here, it might be documented.
In any case, you didn’t run beta code on a mission-critical machine, did you?
If you aren’t willing to accept complete failure of the install / upgrade / whatever you did, then don’t play with the Beta - wait for the formal release.
