Domino 8.5.1 FP2 would not run as a service on Win 2008

I have a a problem. I am migrating a Lotus Traveler server from one piece of HW to another. The one that current is the Traveler server is Windows 2003 and I am moving to a Windows 2008 box. I have tried about every way I can think of when I installed Domino and Traveler. Right now I am just trying to get Domino to run as a service, which I cannot. If I login as Administrator, I can get it to run as a Windows application. What did I do wrong during the install. I even tried running the install as Administrator to get it to work.

Also, unless I run it as an application, the Domino Console does not appear and I can’t even connect via Dom Admin.

Help!

Subject: The below helped me out

Hi there,

I had exact same issue when I went to 8.5.1 on Server2008.

Subject: Console cannot be viewed on Server2008

Also with Server2008 you cannot view console like you could with 2003 (RDP /console). The only way to view the console on the server is to either connect from your admin client or use the JConsole.

Subject: Thanks for info!

Ben:

When you refer to the Jconsole are you referring to that new Console icon I get when I install on Win 2008?

I’ll try the info in the other link you gave me as well. Since this isn’t a production server yet, I have a little time to mess with it.

Subject: JConsole icon

Hi Phillip,

Thats correct, the JConsole is the new console icon you would of noticed with the 8.5.1 install.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Subject: Thanks! I got that working too.
