I was very surprised and sad when I tried to run Domino Web Admin from my MAC using Firefox 2.0, to my newly upgraded Domino 7.0.2 server.
Got a nice screen telling my Domino Web Admin is only windows browser usable.
OK, some of us have to use both windows and mac in our jobs. Myself use a MAC laptop when I travel. Since IBM is not going to release admin client for MAC. At least they could do is make the Browser Domino Web Admin usable for both PC or MAC browsers for Webadmin.nsf.
The issue here is not a Mac-specific issue, but rather a Firefox 2.0 issue.Webadmin works fine with Firefox 1.0x on the Mac. It currently doesn’t work with FF 1.5x and FF 2.0, due to backward incompatible changes made in those browser versions.
So you COULD install Firefox 1.0x on MacOS-X, which will work.
The plan is to try and get Webadmin in Domino 7.03 to work with FF 2.0 again.

Thomas
thank you for the update and yes I do understand it is a browser issue and not a MAC related issue.
But to follow on those lines. Why is it that MAC Safari browser also can not run WebAdmin on 7.0.2 ? I can understand Firefox being behind. But Mac current Safari 2.0.4 should work before Firefox 2.X, for users that need access to WebAdmin from MAC clients.
It would make better effort from IBM development to get Safari working before FireFox, as a native browser on MAC.

Safari’s DOM model (at least at the time of development) wasn’t entirely up to par with Mozilla’s, so some critical code in webadmin would have to be rearchitected to address that deficit.

Agreed, from a mac user’s point of view. However, the current focus is to get webadmin first to work on Firefox 2.0, which then will also work on the Mac version. That way you have at least one option to actually use it on OS X with a recent browser which has all the security fixes available, etc. Getting it to work on Safari would be prio #2.
Domino Designer and the Domino Administrator work perfectly in Parallels and Boot Camp. Might not be the solution you want to use but it is a viable solution available today.
They also work on Virtual PC if you’re not on an Intel Mac.

Is this true for version 7.x.x of Designer and Adminisrator, or just version 6? I use VMware on Linux with Crossover and it doesn’t yet work with version 7.
