Does z-index even works in android devices?

I have been trying to add z-index to a couple of UI elements and through that, I want to make sure that I am not able to select/click the UI elements that are behind the higher z-index element. I am giving a high z-index number to the element but yet the elements behind it are clickable. Tried every value, but nothing is working.

Thanks @Melissa Chavez . Assigning an empty event to the higher z-index element worked for me as told in the question shared by you
