Does SOAPConnect still work in ND7.x?

Does anyone know if SoapConnect still works with 7.x?

I’ve been trying to test the samples included from the SOAPConnect package found in the sandbox:

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/sandbox.nsf/ecc552f1ab6e46e4852568a90055c4cd/5957820fa8268dbf85256bae00671773?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,soapconnect

I’ve followed the installation instructions for copying files into data and program directory (one caveat: instructions say to save a copy of xml4.jar file, but I did not have one in the first place, not in program dir and not in designer java dir).

When testing the samples for temerature and stock price, I get an “object variable not set”. This is the code and the ** is the line the debugger is stuck on:

%INCLUDE “SoapConnect”

Sub Click(Source As Button)

Dim Degrees As Single

Dim EndPoint As String

Dim myArgs(0) As Variant 'One element at index 0

Dim ws As New NotesUIWorkSpace

Dim UIDoc As NotesUIDocument

Set UIDoc = ws.currentDocument

EndPoint = “http://services.xmethods.net:80/soap/servlet/rpcrouter”

Dim TempService As New SOAPClient(Endpoint)

myArgs(0) = UIDoc.FieldGetText("zipcode")

***** Degrees = TempService.invoke(“urn:xmethods-Temperature”, “getTemp”, myArgs)

Call UIDoc.FieldSetText("result", Cstr(Degrees))

Any help from those who’ve used and know SoapConnect would be appreciated.

Use Stubby database instead. OpenNTF.org - The Open Source Community for Collaboration Solutions

Thanks Andrei. Do you have any suggestions on how to use Stubby with Lotusscript? I’ve looked at it and to be honest, didn’t understand it, whereas SC appears to be really simple and straightforward. (I’m not a java developer)

In the downloaded Stubby database there is an example of calling a Java scriptlibrary through LS2J from LotusScript agent. SOAPConnect might work with simple Web services, but will fail when you try to do something real.
