Does MYSQL Version 9.x work with SafeLinx 1.4.x

The install would be Rocky Linux 9 with latest Safelinx and using MySQL9. Is this supported as the requirements says MySQL 8.0.20 or later.

Does this mean 8.0.20 and any newer versions of 8 or does this cover major releases so to version 9?

Hi Richard,

Based on current guidance, SafeLinx is expected to support installations on Linux platforms, including Rocky Linux 9. While the documented requirement specifies MySQL 8.0.20 or later, this generally refers to version 8 and its subsequent updates. Compatibility with MySQL 9 is not explicitly confirmed in the available documentation.

To ensure full compatibility, we recommend testing the setup in your environment prior to deployment. If you encounter any issues during installation or operation, please feel free to open a support ticket for further assistance.

So in short no MYSQL 9 Does not work with the latest version of SafeLinx. I uninstalled everything then installed MYSQL 8.4.6-1 this still failed as it also doesn’t work with anything other that the 8.1.0-1 version of the odbc connector..

You then have to be very careful because if you do a yum update it tries to update the ODBC connector to version 9 so I have had to exclude MYSQL from updates or it breaks.

Hi Richard,

In our test environment, Rocky Linux 9.6 with mysql-odbc 9.4.0.1 worked successfully with SafeLinx 1.4.3.1.

We suggest opening a support case for further investigation.
