I have a problem with documents that contain lots of data in their summary items. (Issummary = true) I used to get the 32k error but trimmed the documents down to get past that. Now i can successfully save.
However, these same documents are not appearing in any views. I have checked all selection formulas and field values and all are correct.
When the documents contain partial data, they appear correctly. But when I add a lot more data (but still under 32k), the docs disappear from the views. They won’t even show in views that have: Select @All
I can still access them via doclinks, but that’s the only way.
Is there something I can do in the database properties or with the documents in particular?
I tried setting “Optimize document table map” and “Allow more fields in database”, but those don’t help.

I am assuming that you are not trying to show 32K in a view column, you are simply trying to get the document back into the view.
My first guess is that you succeeded in trimming the field to an acceptable size, but there is a computation elsewhere on the form which combines it with other data which results in another field exceeding the limit.
My suggestion is to put this data into a rich-text field (you cannot feasibly show that much in a view anyway). Frequently when we have huge field values (esp. RT), we use @Abstract to create an abbreviated version of the field which is usable in a view. For instance, CommentsText could contain the first 100 characters of a RT field named Comments. The RT field can then safely be multiple GB of data.
ps. I believe that both “Optimize document table map” and “Allow more fields in database” will not take effect until after you have compacted the database with appropriate parameters.
The fields that are large are not being displayed in the views. I have found that if I attempt to display any field in the view, it removes the document from the view.
However, if I show something simple like Creation Date, then the doc will appear.
What gives?
