I have an email that gets sent out to some people, with a doclink to a document in a database. When the user clicks it, they get a message that says ‘Document has been Deleted’. But the document has not been deleted, the form has not been deleted. Can anyone tell me what can cause this? These are the things I have tried:
-
Thought the default form wasn’t set. Made sure that was set fine.
-
Made sure the document id on the creation of the doclink was correct. Simple procedure, this is correct.
-
I and the user can open this document from the actual database itself. So it does open.
-
Made sure the form name that is stored is the correct one. This is correct.
What else can cause this?

Most common causes are
-
the doclink references a view that does not contain the document. This can happen, for example, if you programmatically create a doclink, which automatically uses the default view, but your default view does not include all documents - specifically does not contain this document.
-
the doclink was created from a private or restricted view, so the recipient can’t access the view (don’t ask me why it concludes that the document has been deleted)
-
The document is is a replica of the database, but has not yet replicated through to the replica the recipient is using. This is quite common.

Any new ones are working correctly, so I may have changed the default view. I changed this back to ‘All’ for future ones. One thing I notice sometimes is that the ‘default view’ doesn’t always show up when moved from a template to a production database.

The only other thing I’ve tripped over with doc-links is if there is not a default view in the target database.
(I’m presuming the document being linked to has been saved, and is not a new-doc when the link is being created.)
