I have created NDL files matching the document link in the rich text item. Is it possible to replace the doclink with the NDL file at the exact location where doclink was present. If possible, please provide me the code.
Subject: DocLinks and NDL files
Converting the doclink in place to an NDL attachment is possible using DXL or the C API, although not simple, but remember that if you are sending this to someone outside of Notes, their e-mail system likely does not support attachments “in place”. For example, in Microsoft Outlook, the attachments will show up above the message in a special space, which is fairly typical of e-mail systems.
Thus, if you wanted to do this in DXL, you would need to dump the DXL for the existing message, traverse the tree looking for doclinks, create the NDL attachments, put in a placeholder text referencing the link, then base64 encode the attachments and add them in the DXL where appropriate. In the C API, you would do the same except that you would traverse the CD records, making a copy and changing as you went, then replace the original Body records.
You may want to consider an alternative, commercial solution. Our CoexLinks software will convert doclinks and link hotspots to NDLs or Notes URLs that will work in Microsoft Outlook and other non-Notes e-mail, as well as on your Blackberry, without any changes to your database applications and without adding any agents or scripts to your server or clients.
