Do you use a blackberry? How do you have your access control set up?

One of our salespeople purchased a blackberry. I was wondering what we need to do to the access control list for there mail database.

What level should the Default be set at and should Anonymous be in the access control list and at what level to get messages to the blackberry?

Hi

We just put a rule in our blackberry users mail files that forwards out a copy of the mail to the blackberry. They still have to manage their mail boxes but it gets round the problem of having to have the enterprise server.

First question. Are you expecting the user to access the Domino Server using a browser on the BB? If so, how would you set up any user’s ACL for this access?

Second question. If No to question one, you will need a BlackBerry Enterprise Server to “push the data out” to the BB.

If you’re using a BES or even the Blackberry Internet Connect service (which uses your iNotes/DWA authentication), I don’t believe you need to make any ACL changes in the user’s mail file. This assumes that you are not trying to access Notes via the Blackberry Browser (as noted in the response above).

If you don’t have a BES, but do have iNotes/DWA access, Blackberry Internet Connect may be your answer. Regardless, there’s lots of information on the Blackberry website and knowledgebase: (http://www.blackberry.com/na/index.shtml)

Hi, Frank.

We are using BES here and there’s no need to change anything in ACLs. If you just want to have the messages forwarded or copied to the users’ blackberry, you do that as you would for any external mail address.

Best for you
