Hello, everybody.I’m domino system manager in korea. Our customer is using domino server for around 7 or 8 years.
But these days we are cosidering to change to other mail system instead of DOMINO.
So i just wanna get infomation about Domio VS MS. our country still usually is using domino 6.x version. I think Domino8 version is greater than MS.
But it’s not easy to get any documents about comparing Domino(8 ver) VS MS documents.
If you have some opinion or some document, please let me know.
In korea Domino is losing the market by MS. I like domino ^^.

This not an uncommon question, but is a very difficult one, you will find thousands of articles trying to pick the winner in this contest. To be honest, it is almost impossible to make any sensible claim one way or the other (people like Ed Brill: http://www.edbrill.com/ebrill/edbrill.nsf/ will have lots of guidance on how companies can make sure they get the most out of Domino). Domino is not email, and Notes is not Outlook. It is the Applications that you run on Domino that will make the difference. If your developers have produced good applications, that people like and use, then switching becomes all the more difficult. Domino Apps do not just transform into SharePoint or Access or any other single MS product. Domino and Notes do not even need MS at all and a company is free to choose any of a multitude of Operating platforms, some of which are free to use, and coupled with Symphony (another free product), the regular Office worker can perform all their daily duties without ever needing any MS products at all.
You need to identify why it is your managers feel that they should move to MS, what is Domino not doing? What extras do they think MS will give them?
You will find a huge amount of info out there about this topic, but you need to identify what it is, that is putting these thoughts in your leaders heads.
In Asia you can expect a big announcement from IBM of a very large Notes /Domino contract, keep an eye out for it and make sure it is brought to your Managers attention,

I’ve decided keeping handle domino for whole life, even my costumer change to another groupware system. ^^I really really love domino. coz I’m managing domino system and developing for around 9 years in korea. and Domino always give customer and me good solution for communication and i like open source. I like coposite application also thank you very much. i have to study hard domino 8 more than now.
