I administer an environment that is split over 2 data centers and where all the servers are clustered. The cluster partitions are always in the other data center and all Domino servers are on AIX and are R7.0.2 or above. All servers are on the same LAN scope (IP), so no cross cables or seperate switches, for each data center with a very high bandwidth between the centers. All the servers are mail servers. The question I have is related to the DNN. For the primary port on each Domino server I use the same DNN and for the cluster port I would like to use the same DNN as used for the primary one (so one DNN for both ports). This would mean that I only have to create one connection document to the HUBs if I use a server group. The advantage I see is that mail will route even if one of the cluster partitions is down. Also when there is a HW problem with the primary card or cable that there is no impact on mail routing. Is there a reason why I would NOT use the old setup of having each port have it’s own DNN? Or any other reason why I should not do it this way? Thank you for any and all input or insight you can give!
