Group, We are not running Sametime, but several clients get the instant messaging login box when Lotus first opens. I’ve checked the user profile and preferences, and cannot find how to remove this option.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Diane

Subject: Standard or Basic?
Subject: instructions
These are the instructions to completely disable at the client. If any of the below fields are missing, the user should skip the missing fields/steps and do all the others.
If this does not work, you might have a policy setting, but if you never ran Sametime, then I doubt that is the case.
File>Mobile>Edit Current Location
Click the Servers tab.
Make sure the field “IBM Lotus Sametime Server” is blank. If not, blank it out.
Click the Instant Messaging tab.
Empty all the fields on this tab.
Click Save & Close button at the top of the page.
File>Preferences>User Preferences
Click the Instant Messaging section.
Empty all the boxes on this page.
Click Ok.
File>Exit Notes.
Wait 30 seconds.
Restart Notes. Should go away.

2)Also, one of the clients has the sametime icon in the task bar - in her situation, doesn’t matter if it’s basic or standard. I have checked her startup programs and cannot seem to locate the program loading this on her pc.
Thanks for the responses.

Subject: all 3 steps
The instructions I sent you worked in both Basic and Eclipse in our environment. It was important that users followed all 3 steps:Preferences>User Preferences>Instant Messaging page>clear all fields
Location>Server Tab>clear Sametime Server name
Location>Instant Messaging Tab>clear all fields
Sametime icon in the system tray is just a symptom of sametime running. Get the above handled and it should go away upon reboot.
