Directory Looks like it's in R5 on one Admin Client and R6 on another - How?

Earlier today I replicated the Name and Address Book (company Directory) between a 5.0.11 server and a 6.5.1 server (my intention was simply to keep the users sync’d). The 5.0.11 server is actually newer than the 6.5.1 servers - I set it up to run Sametime after learning that 3.0sp1 won’t run on 6.5.1. Shortly after this I noticed on my admin client that all the servers looked like they were R5 servers, even though they are 6.5.1. In horror, I refreshed the design on my main 6.5.1 server, hoping that all the data was still there. This didn’t change anything. Suspicious, I found another client system with an Admin client and accessed the 6.5.1 server. Phew! It still looked like the old 6.5.1 config including the 6.5.1-only data (like Full Access Administrators), except before it opens I get an error (3 times in a row) that says:

Domino Administrator

Cannot locate field definition for Field: $HTMLAttributes

whenever I try to view the server config document.

On my main system (running the same 6.5.1 Admin client), all the servers still look like they’re R5.

What on Earth happened and how can I fix it, both for my main Admin client so I have access to all the advanced features of 6 again (the whole Administrators section of the Security config tab is missing, just like it’s an R5 config sheet) and to fix the error message I now get on the other Admin client.

Please help. I’m desparate and scared.

Thank you,

Colin

Subject: Directory Looks like it’s in R5 on one Admin Client and R6 on another - How???

OK, I partially figured out the problem, but it seems like a bug in Notes/Domino (so maybe I just don’t understand how this should work). Even though I had selected Open Server and under the drop down Use Directory on, I had selected the 6.5.1 server, it was using a local replica of the public NAB, which had last been replicated with the R5 server. When I replicated with the 6.5.1 server, then it worked, for the 6.5.1 servers, now the R5 server looks like it’s a 6.5.1 server too.

It appears that the Admin client uses the local replica regardless of what database (which server’s NAB/Directory/server config document) I open. This is bad. How can I manage a server if the Admin client is not really showing me that server. Worse, it appears to open it. It takes a while and the lightening bolt appears in the lower left Communication button.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug in the way the Admin client talks with the servers?

Thanks,

Colin
