Different internet domains on one Lotus domain

Hello

I would like to include two different internet domains @xx.com and @zz.com on my Lotus Domain. I have seen many questions about this, but I have always seen that these domains are treated as aliases (with a Global Document ), but I don’t want this behaviour. I need that @xx.com and @yy.com are different and isolated domains, so if I send a mail to test@xx.com it is impossible that it will arrive to test@yy.com.

Is it possible? Have you any idea?

Thanks in advance

Marian

On the Router/SMTP Basics tab of your config doc set the Address Lookup field to Fullname Only. You need to make both xx.com and yy.com domain aliases because if the router does not find an exact match of the full internet address it will also check the primary domain as well.

For example:

If your primary internet domain is xx.com and yy.com is an internet domain alias and someone sends a msg to jdoe@yy.com, if no match is found it will try jdoe@xx.com.

But if your primary is zz.com and someone sends to jdoe@yy.com the router will try jdoe@zz.com but will NOT try jdoe@xx.com. Hope this makes sense.

Hello

Sorry, on my example I put zz.com and the example is only with @xx.com and @yy.com. The problem is the next one:

@xx.com is an internet domain from the overall company, and we don’t have all the internet addresses of the company, only some of them. If someone sends a mail to user@xx.com and he is not in our directory, the mail is sent to other smtp server who will take care of it. (we have a smart host configuration)

However @yy.com is a small domain and we have all the email addresses of this domain. The problem is that sometimes people send mails to user1@xx.com, an external email address, but they arrive to user1@yy.com, because this email address exists on our local system.

It is not easy to explain, I know. But what I really want is to have both internet domains on the same Lotus domain, but with no relationship between them. If two users have the same name but different domains, I want to keep them separated … If someone sends mail to user1@xx.com, I want that the mail will be sent to the external smtp server even if we have address user1@yy.com

Cheers

I think I understand what you are describing.

Create a global domain document for each Internet domain you are speaking about. This way, if a search for user1@xx.com does not find a match it will not try again with a different domain it finds. Instead it will step onto the smarthost.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer. I think I’m near the solution, but I have some problems in the configuration of the new document. I have activated the “Internet address lookup” but it is not working properly. For example, if I send a mail to user@yyy.com it is arriving to pre.user@zzz.com.
