Dial out using Notes Client but not Domino

Hi,

I have a situation where Domino can not make a successful phone call. (It is getting the “Call timer expired” message.)

However, via the client, I can make a succesful phone call (via Tools → Mobile → Call Server…).

But, when both Domino and the Client is up and running, I can not make a successful phone from either. So, I suspect Domino is causing the problem somehow.

Can anybody offer any help? I need Domino to be able to make the phone call so that schedule replication can work.

Regards,

Charlie Zeaiter.

Slightly ambiguous phrasing there. Do you mean you have a machine with both server & client on it? What’s the target of the call? What modem? Same or different port setup in Client & server? What does server log file say (they log modem conversations pretty exhaustively)?

Lastly, you can have scheduled replication via modem in the client, so maybe trying to use the server code to do it is a mild red herring anyway…

I have Domino installed on the computer. When I refer to the client, I mean the nlnotes.exe program that is in the C:\Lotus\Domino folder. (This is not a full client, but just a mini-cutdown-version that comes standard with Domino.)

When the client is running (and Domino is not running), I can make a successful phone via the File → Mobile → Call Server… menu option. However, when Domino is running I can not make a succesful phone call.

Admittedly, I may not have the correct mdm file. I am using the Generic All-Speed Modem file because I don’t have any mdm file that resembles my modem (which is some sort of an AZTEC/Rockwell modem).
