I have been using v6.0 for quite a while without any major issues. However today out of nowhere the designer crashes whenever opening a Forms, Pages, or views. I can open agents without issue. Same behavior reguardless of database. DBs arent corrupt because I can use same version designer on other pc to open same DBs. I deleted the CACHE, DESKTOP and BOOKMARK files. I uninstalled NOTES and re-installed. The same damn thing is happening.
As you are a developer, it shouldn’t be necessary to tell you the basic steps in tracking down a problem. Eliminate possible causes. Is it editing elements in a particular database that causes the problem, or any database? Can you create a brand new blank database and edit that design? What’s the .nsd show as the point of failure? Have you tried running fixup against all your databases, particularly including whatever you were working on and the bookmarks database? Is there anything in your path that might be pointing to a different version of Notes, such that a library is loading that’s incompatible with the code that’s calling it? What about a path not to a different version of Notes, but something that uses a library with the same name, e.g. ESB? What changed since Designer was working the day before? Did you install anything, uninstall anything, enable or disable any service, edit your registry, edit your Notes.ini? Do you use ConfigSafe or anything like it, so that you can roll back your system configuration or at least see a list of what’s changed recently?
If all else fails, you could always call Lotus Support.
NSD is not triggered. The cpu goes to 100% and task manager reports that all notes modules are not responding.2. I am running the server on this very machine and the other pc can connect to the same DBs without incident.
I was working in the designer all morning. I am building a shopping cart from the librayry3.nsf from the sandbox on this site. The very last thing I tried to do was copy one of the design forms from the sample database to my database. Actually I tried to open it directly from the sample database to see what I was going to copy and that was the first incident that forces me to re-boot to recover.
I was only working with the designer, client, server, and IE browser all morning.
Call “support”? I have been working with notes and domino for many years and I have opened literally 100’s of incidents. I think they helped me solve 3. I am in between projects and do not have access to a support contract. And I certainly wont pay out of my pocket for Lotus Support. Lotus Support is nothing but a catch phrase that employees can say to their managers when they can’t get something to work: “We’re working on the problem, and we opened an incident with Lotus Tech Support”. had to get my 2 cents about support in there.
Ok. back on-line again. It was the bookmarks that were corrupted. My original order of elimination was my down fall. I deleted the bookmarks and desktop to see if they were the culprit. Then when I uninsttalled the notes I did not remove the bookmarks and desktop files again. so they were the culprit but I let them sneak into the equation on my original un-installation.
