Since moving to 6.0.2, I have not been able to get the Designer preview task to work on my local system. It works fine if the database is located on a server. I’ve read the entries in the forum and checked the following:(1) Hosts table contains an entry for localhosts, 127.0.0.1.
(2) I have run nhttp from a command line and get a message back to say that it(the nhttp task) was already running.
(3) I’m not using a proxy server or anything strange, really. Version 5.0.11 on the sane workstation was fine. I’m using WinXP.
Can anyone point to something I have mighr have omitted?
Well I stumbled across the solution (hey, I don’t just sit back and let the forum solve all my problems LOL) and I thought I’d share it . . .My workstation Lotus installation is
c:\Lotus\Notes\Data. Other posts had mentioned the httpd.cnf file, and how the location of this file seemed to affect the running of local preview. So, curious that I am, I copied c:\Lotus\Notes\Data\httpd.cnf to c:\Lotus\Notes. And preview works fine now. Strange but true . . . By the way, you can get some useful information if you fire up Notes but not Designer, and run nhttp.exe from a command line. Errors when loading are listed which may help with any other problems.
Another problem I got was when I merged my Notes password and XP password. Guess what? Yep, preview stopped again. Set my Notes password to nothing and . . . . started ok again. Like trying to eat an underdone fried egg with chopsticks LOL
