Design Refresh & Database Launch Property - Help!

Short version: Design refresh changes the Database Launch properties. I really don’t want that to happen. Other design elements have the option to turn off updates. Is this available for DB Launch properties?.

Longer Version: I have 4 databases that are based on one template. The ONLY difference between the design of the 4 databases is which Navigator is opened when the database is opened. The template contains 4 navigators which are basically the same except I have customized each with a different logo. The 4 databases will contain different data, but the design will be the same (except for which Navigator launches when the DB is opened).

When the design refresh task runs, or if I run it manually, the DB Launch properties are changed to that of the template. I don’t want this to happen. I want different DB Launch settings for each of the 4 databases.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Is there a better way to do this and keep it simple?

Thank you for your help!

So why don’t you use for all databases the launch option “open designated frameset”.

This opens always the frameset “main_frameset” e.g.

This frameset contains only one frame which has a computed frame content.

In this formula you can compute according to the db path or a configdocument in the database the correct navigator.

This is the way we use such databases with the same template in the background.

I think the way with the configdocument is the more reliable and flexible if you plan to use more than 4 databases or use them in other environment ( directory, server etc. )

Hope this may be a help a while … :wink:

Edited: Thanks for your tip - I figured out my error and it is working nicely with your suggested method!

…hmmm …

@Subset(@dbname;-1) doesn’t deliver so much data …

I tried also the same way - no error.

… just read your edited answer … so have fun with your new solution ;-))
