Design caching problem, this is so weird!

I can say that I’m an experienced Domino admin but I’ve never seen this. If someone could give me at least an idea of what is going on…

situation: 2 clustered servers S1 and S2 running D5.0.11 and R6.5 adresbook design

problem (client version doesn’t matter and it can be reproduced on all clients):

  1. open person doc on S2 → linked document cannot be found in view

  2. open group doc on S2 → opens doc but with person layout

  3. person and group docs on S1 are OK

  4. delete cache of client

  5. person and group docs on S2 are OK

  6. open person doc on S1 → opens doc but with group layout (and groups are OK)

  7. outline of names.nsf on S1 is corrupt, you only see the views

  8. delete cache of client

  9. go back to step 1 and the problem repeats over and over

What I’ve done so far is resign the design, replace, refresh, updall, fixup, disabled cluster replication and replaced design + manual replication, restarted server S2, checked default view and form; nothing helped.

The problem only occurs on our clustered servers, the layout on all other servers is OK. The servers do not seem to give problems, it seems to be a UI issue.

Any feedback would be appreciated !

Its unlikely the problem resides with the application on the server.

After seeing a Group document display as something resembling a Server document, I removed the icon for the NAB and all of its replica icons, compacted the workspace, stopped Notes, deleted the cache.ndk, restarted the client and re-opened the NAB. Everything looked okay then.

Its definitely a client issue.
