Delivery Time Expired / LotusNotes to GMail

Last week my company started receiving error messages from GMAIL users. Either the emails are “delayed” or they “time out” and never reach their intended recipients. More often than not they finally “time out” and never get sent. We are a service provider and deal with 100’s of clients per day, and this is starting to have an adverse effect on our company’s ability to provide quality service.

I look in the router (mail.box) and I can see emails going, but the GMAIL emails just sit there.

We receive a Delivery Failure Report with no information except for the reason “Delivery time expired”

In the console, I can see where it says “Transfering message to gsmtp…”

then the next line is “no messages transferred”

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more information

Thank you in advance.

Tony

Subject: Thank You

Stuart-

Thanks for the information that really helped. Part of the problem when you have a developer being the “admin” too!

Looks like we need to create an SPF file, hopefully, that will fix the issue.

Thanks again

Subject: debug

You need more information about what is happening when your server tries to deliver mail to gmail. run this command at the server console, and you should get the detail:

set config SMTPClientdebug=3

and then study the debug results in the server log the next time the router attempts to deliver mail to gmail. to turn it off, run this:

set config SMTPClientdebug=0

also, the command ‘Tell Router Show Queues’ will tell you what is waiting to send
