Delivery failure : 73

When we send a message to an external domain, we receive a delivery failure with only “73”.What does it mean? What can I do to resolve this mistake?

From which mail-router do you get the failure message? From your own or from the mail-router from the external domain?

If I use the RFC1893 status codes and add some points:

X.7.3 Security conversion required but not possible

A conversion from one secure messaging protocol to another was required for delivery and such conversion was not possible. This is useful only as a permanent error.

I get this failure message from my mail-router. It’s not a permanent error: I can send message on other domain and I have already send message to this domain, but now it’snt working.

Lotus Notes’ delivery failure message is absolutely uninformative.

Sending from a Gmail account yielded the same “73” delivery failure, but gave some more information:

Failed to select mbox ()

procmail: Program failure (73) of “/services/scale/bin/appender”

552 5.2.2 User’s mailbox is full
