DECS = a live connection to other DB data. (personally I do not like it)LEI = a batch connection to other DB data.

  much more power full that DECS

  Through Virtual Activities in LEI you can do the same thing that DECS does

There are other softwares that can do the above as well but DECS and LEI what IBM offer.

You can also use ODBC and JDBC to interact Lotus Notes data with other DBs

Main reason is that it’s free. It’s rather easy to setup and it includes LCXLC LotusScript interface which you can use in your own programming.

We are using DECS to connect other DBs.We have problems with monitoring the connections, sometimes not feels if the connections are faliure.
