DB2 Query Views: Do I have to store my nsf's in db2 just to get federated data?

I’m interested in using query views to get federated data only. The Help states that I have to enable my server for db2. Then it reads:

“When you enable a Domino server for DB2, Domino stores its IBM® Lotus® Notes® data in DB2.”

I don’t care to store all our nsf data in db2. I just want to be able to get federated data from a db2 database. Am I missing something here? - or, is this just the way it works? - and, if so, what are the ramifications?

My goal is to create a query view with an sql statement as my selection formula to retrieve federated data only.

Subject: That helps, but not completely…

This article is good except that it doesn’t address getting federated data only. I’ve read elsewhere that getting federated data does not require any DAV’s. So, I’m still not convinced that all of those requirements are necessary just for federated data. - or, are they?
