Date format problem

I have my database running on one server. This database is being accessed from several countries (Internationally).

The database has several date fields in it.

At present I was using @Today for my dates. This formula “@Today” picks up the date of the client machine and also the date format of the client machine.

As the date fomats used internationally are different, I was facing problems in some calculations.

I am planning to change all the references of Dates from “@Today” to “@Now([Servertime])”.

WHAT COULD BE THE IMPACT OF THIS??

I ALREADY HAVE MANY DOCUMENTS IN THE DATABASE,WILL IT AFFECT.

WILL THE FORMAT AND THE DATE BE PICKED FROM THE SERVER WITH MY NEW CHANGES.

Please let me know.

Subject: Date format problem

You will not have problems with calculations if they’re using date-time methods. The ONLY way that display formats are going to cause problems is if you convert them to text, etc. The content of the field has nothing to do with the OS date-time preferences.

Using @Today instead of @Now (and vice-versa) can cause some problems, though, when your application runs in multple time zones. @Today carries no time component, so if it’s July 11 in zone A when a user creates a document, another user in zone B, where it’s still before mignight on July 10, might wonder what’s up. Storing the complete value in the field and using @Date in whole-day calculation formulas should get around that problem.
