Database is currently in use by you or another user

Hi friends,When I compact log file from serve console it throws the error message:

Compacting log.nsf (Notes Log (XX/XX/XXX))

Error compacting log.nsf: Database is currently in use by you or another user

Database compactor process shutdown

Checked and found no body is using log.nsf not by server itself. Did dbcache flush and then checked but the same problem.

Is there any way to compact log.nsf from server console by passing the above error.

Please share ur idea.

Thanks in advance

Sukku

Obviously, the log.nsf file is ALWAYS in use if a server is running, so the message is correct. The only way to compact those databases (names.nsf is another one) is to quit the server and run ncompact.exe on the log.nsf file.

Using the admin client, the compact dialog includes a couple of check boxes… one of which is to allow access while compacting. I’m not sure if that would work, but its worth a shot.

Same thing happened with us… I ran the Fix Up command from ServerAdmin+… It worked when trying to run the commands from the Console failed
