Dataarea & field value (JS Calendar)

I’m a little confused here. I have an embedded HTML page that is nothing but a javascript calendar. The calendar comes up and a date can be chosen. It appears that the value is placed in a field. It is not a Notes field… HTML mentions dataarea= ‘startdate’. When I save and open the document, there is no value. How can I grab this value or make it stay in the field/dataarea? Just confused on how the traditional Notes form/field works with the HTML version.

You said “It is not a Notes field…”.If you have a Notes field on the form by the same name (and of the appropriate data type), even if it is hidden from the web client, then when the form is submitted Domino should recognise and store it - provided of course that it is sent in the POST data from the form?

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the response… think I understand. If I have a Notes field on the form named “startdate” and I inserted (file resource) cal.html, it should populate the Notes field named “startdate” (assuming the HTML has dataarea= ‘startdate’, correct?). Does the field need to be computed?

This is still causing issues. I place the passthuru HMTL (JSCalendar script) on the page and the “startdate” computed text field between the body tags -w- <input=“text”… fieldhere…type=“hidden”>. The dataarea in the javascript is set to ‘startdate’. Do I have the field in the wrong place?
