DAOS: Recommendations for File Repository?

Has anybody read hardware / server recommendations for the DAOS file repository? Perhaps some guidelines to measure which hardware / software (OS?) would be a good choice for a given Domino installation.

For example imagine a cluster of two Domino servers running as a mail-/home-server for some 2.500 users. Self-evident that they are mail hunter-gatherers and the server has to cope with GBs of mail databases …

Any experiences, suggestions, recommendations about how to measure the DAOS file repostitory’s features?

I would like to see other forum members chime in (especially those who are working actively with DAOS), but our general recommendation is to run the DAOS estimator tool

The new version is now available on the web site. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=463&uid=swg24021920

This will help you understand the amount of data that your current mail files store in attachments which, in turn, can be useful in projecting future space requirements. It our standard benchmark (meant to model your hunter/gather model), DAOS accounted for around 2 % of the overall server i/o, so typically this can use lower cost storage.

I know that some early deployers have used SAN storage, hopefully some of these users will chime in.

Thanks, Gary, for your posting.

Perhaps we get some additional experiences from other forum members as well.
