DAMO not bringing over new mail

I was having this problem with DAMO 6.5.4, so I waited for the gold release of 6.5.5 and did a complete reinstall. When uninstalled the old version on 11/28/05 and installed the new version everything went fantastic! But now when I open Outlook it never gets anything new. It shows the little replication box but nothing comes over. Latest date for any email in any folder is 11/28, the day I set it up.

This was also a problem with the older release and I’m wondering what the scoop is!!??

I only have this loaded as a “Show and Tell” for clients that might not want to migrate to a domino server for fear of losing Outlook. I don’t (heaven forbid) actually use the product on a regular basis.

Running Windows XP SP2 with all updated drivers on IBM T41 thinkpad. Lotus Notes 7.0 on a Domino 6.5.4 windows server. Only thing I have non-standard is my setup for multiple clients. Since I am a consultant, and manage 25+ domino servers at 20+ companies, I have multiple domino environments that can run simultaneously using nlnotes.exe. That way I can have 2-10 different Lotus Notes clients open at once when things get hairy.

This setup has not caused me any grief in the past except for EasySync (which is a horrible product anyway), because of the multiple notes.ini files on my machine. I’m wondering if DAMO is getting confused because of my setup. I don’t see anyone else in the forum having this issue.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Where is the failure occurring?

Hi Gregory,

Although DAMO hasn’t been tested with 10 Notes clients installed, I routinely run DAMO along with a Notes client and a Domino server. There is no problem.

When DAMO is running using there are two processes (Outlook 2003 & Outlook XP) that should be seen in the Windows Task Manager: OUTLOOK & nwrdaemn. If the nwrdaemn process is not running, there will be no replication. Try sending yourself an email as a test. Does it appear in the Outlook Sent folder? Is it cleared out of the Outlook Outbox folder? Using a Notes client, open the mail.box that is in the DAMO user’s data directory. Is the email stuck there? Did it appear in the mail file on the server? … and this is just looking at email that has been sent.

In the case of email being received, the nwrdaemn process needs to be running all of the time after it kicks off the first time. Using a Notes client, open the _.nsf file that is in the DAMO user’s data directory. You’ll need the user’s id as this file is encrypted. Are there stubs represented there that indicate the docs were replicated from the server?

There are other things to do to investigate, but this may provide some answers.

Mike

Thanks Mike. You’ve given me some avenues to pursue.

I had a similar wierd problem like this. In terms of testing, I pu tit on a machine that didn’t have any prior installations of Notes on it, just Outlook 2003. It works fine once I did that. My theory is there’s some confusion due to where your Lotus Notes registry settings might point to (just a theory).
