Dear DAMOers,

Has anyone had a chance to try the latest DAMO release yet (7.0.3 released as part of Domino server FP3)? I’m looking forward to some fixes to the following problems:

  • Meeting responses are not properly registered if the invitation is sent to the SMTP address instead of the full Lotus style address. (DAMO/Outlook seems to treat them as two differerent people and gets confused)

  • Outlook sticky Notes crashing DAMO. Didn’t used to happen, but now if I do anything with Outlook sticky Notes, I get a DAMO crash for some reason.

  • To and From columns in Outlook should be displaying Firstname Lastname instead of User/Site/Location format which is harder to read. (I have a fix using a custom formula if anyone is interested).

  • Inconsistency in replication errors where moves and deletes in Outlook don’t necessarily make their way back to the Notes database.

  • Problems with non-ending recurring appointments in Outlook only translating to a x10 repeating appointment in Notes. (Not much use for birthdays?!). Of course these break when I recreate my .pst.

  • I use Activesync. I sometimes have to reset my partnership and re-sync all my entries in Outlook. Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the DAMO calendar data in Outlook which means that Activesync considers the PST entries to be already synced with the PDA and refuses to sync them. This has happened to me maybe 5-6 times in the last 18 months and the only solution is to manually change EACH calendar entry in Outlook to force Activesync to sync the data. When you have a calendar with 2000+ entries, this can be 3-4 hour exercise.

DAMO has made a huge difference to the way I work and over the last 2 years, I have seen it mature into a really capable product. Quite excited about the 7.0.3 release, especially looking at the list of fixes.

I shall continue to update this thread on progress as I progress with my attempts to test it at this end.

Dear DAMOers,

I’ve managed to lay my hands on a copy of 7.0.3 and have had it running on my work PC for the last couple of days. Against my initial list of issues previously posted, I’m pleased to say that we have made some progress!

  • General calendaring appears to be a lot more robust. Schedule information is collected correctly, acceptances now work and recurring appointments to me now come as a proper recurring appointment - not 100 different messages! I’m now confident that DAMO is 100% transparent here.

  • Outlook sticky notes problems resolved itself before 7.0.3. I think it was more likely to be a corrupt note that DAMO didn’t like.

  • To and From columns unfortunately haven’t changed yet. Again I have another work-around with a custom formula.

  • Deletes finally replicate both ways which is excellent news. Unfortunately moves don’t appear to replicate to Notes meaning my Notes inbox grows in size…

  • Recurring appointment replication; Not checked this one yet. Will report back soon on this.

  • Activesync issues have not been checked yet. I’m building up the energy to give this a go. If it isn’t fixed, I loose a half day!

So certainly a step in the right direction. Well done to the development team for a sterling effort!
