Current IE7 Build Forcing Language to "English (United States)"

We have been testing our product, over the last few months, with several different beta versions of IE7. Today we downloaded the latest version and upgraded a fresh test machine from IE6 to IE7, and an existing IE7 beta to IE7.

On both machines, the original web browser language settings were removed and replaced with “English (United States)”. Both machines were originally set to “English (United Kingdom)”. This causes date display and entry fields to show as mm/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy. Changing the language settings in the IE7 options resolves the issue.

I have searched the net for similar issues but cannot find anything. Can anyone else confirm this please?

Kindest Regards,

Darren Goodchild

United Kingdom.

Has the same issue… XP (SP2) with O/S set to United Kingdom – downloaded IE7, when loading webapps all dates and currency formats where is US, had to change the setting in IE.

The first time you run IE7 after a complete install and reboot, it will ask you to select a bunch of defaults, most of them are wrong.

For us, it lists - current setting as: English (Australian) but the default (selected) option is to set it back to English (United States). If you just OK or close this screen, then it will muck up your settings.

It seems to be a deliberate “error” on the part of Microsoft.
