Creating resource in Address Book

Hi

In the Mail-In Database and Resource view in the Public Address Book there is a view button called Add resource. With this button a Resource can be created.

Should this resource also somwhow show up in the Rooms and reservations DB? I have created several resources in the address book, but none of them comes into the R&R db.

The other way around does work, creating a resource in R&R does create a document in the Address Book.

Is this working as designed? or did i forgot to start a task or something else?

Regards

Sounds like it’s working as designed.

See the topics in the Administrator Help - in 8.5 help a specific toipic is entitled: ’ Editing and deleting Resource documents ’

R&R resources are added in the R&R database, then Adminp populates the NAB from there.

Subsequent changes (renames, deletes, etc) should always be performed from the R&R database - and Adminp will complete.

Final deletion will be listed in the Administration Requests database (admin4.nsf) to be approved.

Hi Thank you for the response,

But inn the Mail-In database and resources view there is a button called Add Resource. If i use that what meaning does it have if it is not created/send to the R&R database?

As Mark said . All maintenance of resource / room docs should be done in the r&r db and the appropriate adminp request will be create to maintain the entries in the address book.

Couldn’t say for sure.

It’s use is not documented in the 8.5 documentation - and I no longer have the R6 documentation readily available, you might check the R6 documentation and see if there is a reference to that function. Maybe it’s there as an ‘easy’ way to re-create a document in case it’s accidentally deleted?

Might be left over from an older version of Notes, but, at least in current code (9.0.1) it doesn’t seem to go create the resource in the R&R database. That view has been there since at least 1998, so maybe it just never got cleaned up?

Hi,

That makes it all clear. Thank you very much for the information.

Subject: NAB “helper” for Admins

(A lot late to this party but I somehow missed it when it was first active… I just wanted to provide a definitive answer for you.)

The button in the NAB was only intended to help Admins who needed to add a missing Room or Resource to their NAB. It was nicer than telling them to use copy/paste and editing NAB docs (and possibly doing something wrong).

As others have already noted the primary R&R work should be done in the R&R dB itself. If you happen to loose a NAB record for some reason you can use the buttons to replace what was lost.
