Hi,

I think Simon Boulton is correct, with all these restrictions you may be limited to producing csv files on the server. I am not sure exactly what you mean by “VB in Lotus script” though.

If you allow VBA on the excel clients then I have a technique that works for me… But maybe that is what you mean by “VB in Lotus script security reason” ???

Have a look at :

It may help. ??

Hendry, I mean to say that when we use VB Script in agent on web then we need to enable Internet Security option “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe”. therwise it doesn’t works.and that client is happy with this.

I am really sorry that, I forget to include one more thing in my query that I have to generate some line charts in excel. Lot of of option I have tried but I didn’t feel happy, As you guys gave very usefull tips but that are only for exporting data to excel not for generationg charts(as my knwoledge).

please help me out this.

I use Office Web Components (OWC) which are embedded excel objects in a browser and VBScript to generate reports for the browser client. You only need to install OWC on the server.

As long as any report doesn’t use formatting, I generally create a comma-separated-variable (CSV) file. Excel will open a CSV file without requiring any special translation. For most of my users, this has been OK, as the information is more important than the presentation. AFAIK, if you want to create a native Excel file, you have to have the Microsoft Excel object library - I use this when I want to do more advanced things like merging cells.

Subject: no problem - Integra4Notes

We’ve been using this product for a bit now, and it’s great. All it takes to achieve your scenario is to setup a report to run on a client with Excel installed, and have it saved on the file server (or within a Notes database on the Notes server)

just have a look if it’s simple enough for you… integra4notes is the name of the stuff

Johan,

There is nothing inherently wrong with suggesting your own product, but please do not pretend to be a user. The term for that is “astro-turfing”, and it is almost guaranteed to irritate and turn off potential users. Just be up front about the fact that you work for Shireburn, and feel that the product meets a specific need addressed in the question. In your other two posts today recommending Integra, you were at least ambiguous, but in this post you say “We’ve been using this product for a bit now, and it’s great.”, which clearly implies that you are a disinterested observer. Given that you have posted exactly five times in this forum, and every one was either a recommendation for Integra or a question which clearly led to a response from another person from Integra, it is surpassingly hard to believe that you are disinterested. Given that all of those posts are made from the relatively small country of Malta, where Shireburn happens to be located, it is even less likely.

So again, please be up front and honest about who you are and your interest in the matter and then you can still recommend the product but without the deception and without risking annoying people. As for my interest in this matter, I too have products that I mention, and would rather that the rules on the forum were not tightened due to abuses.

You can use print statements to send MIME output directly to the browser. You can then specifiy the excel table as an HTML table.

Have a search for Excel MIME and HTML in this forum. I am sure there must be a good answer to it.
