Creating Bar Graphs & Using Colors In Notes

I have been assigned a new project that is basically putting about a dozen Excel forms online in Notes making them available to multiple users with some built-in security levels. Some of the sheets I will need to duplicate have colored bar charts or spreadsheets/tables that have cells colored different colors based on the status or condition of that cell. I haven’t done much with color in this capacity. Can Notes 6.03 handle this? Any suggestions on ways to best address this?

Yes, Notes 6 lets you color code a column (and all columns to the right of it) based on a value. See the document “Row custom color formulas” in the Designer Help DB.

Here’s the example I like to show where a Sales tracking DB can be color coded to show %'s reached each month for different regions.

While I agree with Alan entirely if you can make this view data, another option if you want a single document showing the information uses our Midas Rich Text LSX (see the Report It! sample db for examples). In the example below, I clicked on one of the bars to show that they can be hotspots which provide more information.

A surprising number of people have commented to me on this post, and almost each one has asked “but can they be vertical bar charts”, so last night I modified the agent slightly to create the report below (which I will add to the downloadable sample db shortly, but anybody can get for the asking). The thing to remember about Midas is that it is not a slick reporting package, but it is very, very flexible:
