Crazy but true...Renaming one folder renames several

I have a user whose database is flaking out. He had some subfolders somehow move out into his main folder listing, which is strange, but the real strange part is all the folders had the same name, but different e-mails. The moved folders are all subfolders of different main folder names. Each folder is now named incorrectly. When he and I tried to just rename one folder (in the main list), it renamed every folder with the same name. I am able to move each folder back to it’s subfolder and then rename it fine. He was doing the same thing yesterday and it was working, now it’s acting like it was during the original problem.

I’m not sure exactly how to explain what is happening, so I hope this helps. My question is, how do i fix the issue? I ran a FIXUP on the database and an UPDALL, plus the NCOMPACT. Any suggestions or requests for more information are appreciated.

Just fer grins, try

Delete the mail db from the desktop, compact the desktop and re-add the file.

If that doesn’t work, delete (or renaming) the bookmark and desktop files, delete cache.dsk and restarting Notes.

Best of luck.

I thought it might have something to do with the folders having the same alias name, but I just tried that and could not reproduce your error. Sorry.

I think you’re better off recreating the folders and move the memos to the recreated folders. We encountered a situation similar to this and we had no other options then to recreate those particular folders.
