Copying text from a browser

Why when I copy text from Internet Explorer to use in a Rich Text field does the Notes client insist on copying an entire table (or two or three) around the text? This doesn’t happen from any other browser I use (that is, Opera).

Is there a way to change this?

Thanks,

It’s an IE special. It doesn’t happen in Firefox.

IE has some special features which make it more compatible with MS Word than other browsers. You’ll notice big differences if you copy/paste from IE to Word vs Firefox to Word.

I generally “bounce” my pastes depending on what I want out of them.

If I want good formatting…

I COPY from IE,

PASTE into WORD

then COPY from WORD

and PASTE into NOTES

If I want NO formatting…

I COPY from IE,

PASTE into NOTEPAD

then COPY from NOTEPAD

and PASTE into NOTES

Of course, these days I use firefox considerably more than IE, so normal copying works better and I can use the “Copy as plain text” for the latter.

Hope this helps.

Be sure to get the Web Developer plug-in for Firefox. Essential. Period.

You could also use Edit/Paste special… and choose Text. It will work too…
