one of my users has created a complex folder structure in his Lotus Notes 8.5 Client.
Several other users (connected to the same Domin server as said user) need this folder structure in their respective mail databases as well, since they want to access it, too, while being offline.
Is there a way to copy selected folders, their subfolders a documents contained therein, while leaving the folder structure intact?
Hi, i cannot get my head around your exact needs, but there is a chance that you are looking at the solution incorrectly. It appears confusing what you actually need: Folder structure only? plus some docs? Once copy has been made, what about updates? Is continuous access needed to master user’s folders, etc?
So various ways, generally all clumsy, but some ideas: Recreate a new replica to a separate local db and shift-select all/only the folders that you need.
Folders are design notes and not documents notes, so to transfer them, you must use designer copy/paste from one db to another.
It may well be that you could actually benefit from this being an application … this user pastes mail messages into a discussion database that is accessed and replicated by all. (You would simply add the memo form to the discussion database. they can then create the folder structure in this shared database … some work up front, but may well be worth it. If you have many folders and documents to include initially, there are different approaches to this that will save you time.
