Can anybody let me know whether there is any way to convert a Lotus Mail 6.5 template to Lotus 8.0 mail file template alonngwith the upgradation of the Lotus notes client version.

Yes, it is fairly easy with policies. Look up “seamless mail upgrade” in administration help.
You will need to implement policies to make it work but it works great.
