I just recently upgraded somebody from 6.5 to 8.5 FP1. When replacing the names.nsf file, it showed the old designed so I just replaced it. Well, the designed placed but the when going into preferences for the Contacts, it still shows the 6.5 contacts preferences window. The reason I need to get into the preferences is because it adds all people into the “Recent Contact View” and I cannot turn it off. Anybody know how to fix this? I tried to replace it multiple times and also tried to reboot.

Check the (PersonalAddressBookProfile) form in Designer and see if is marked so as to not accept changes from Replace/Referesh design.

Looked at the “(PersonalAddressBookProfile) form” and it was set to not accept changes from Replace/refresh design. Anything else?

Un-check that selection so that it WILL accept changes. Then replace design again.
Subject: cached form?
possibly the old form is cached. Try opening the bookmarks.nsf > ByURL (hidden) view and delete all of these. If that doesn’t work then use some code to delete the address book profile.
