Consiming Web Services Again

Further to my post yesterday (https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedweb/da222b67af3009d78525720a005d3cb4?OpenDocument) I am beginning to wonder if this is possible at all!!

To simplify my problem :

  1. Can I consume a .NET web service on another server from a Web Query Save agent? (I have tried the code on the earlier post in a WQS agent, and got

18/10/2006 09:36:24 Agent ‘wqsTim’ error: Operation is disallowed in this session

but I don’t know whether that is because you can’t consume web services in a WQS or because the server can’t get to use MSSOAP for some reason)

  1. How do I get to consume web services from any agent on the server. I don’t care how : LS, Java, MSSOAP etc I just want to get it working!!!

My client agent works if I run it from the client on the server, so MSSOAP has obviously has installed on the server.

I have tried restarting Domino not as a server, but as an app, but I still get the ‘cannot create automation object’

To restate : I need to use a web service to validate a username and password from a .NET application before letting them access a Domino web based database.

My plan is that they fill in the name/password on a domino form, then a wqs calls the web service and then redirects them to the db if successful, or to retry if failed.

Is this possible? How???

Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Tim, my understanding is that you MUST use Java to consume a web service (you can use LS when providing web services from Domino). There may be a way to use LotusScript to call the Java agent that consumes the web service but I’m not sure about that.

Check out nsftools.com - The August 2006 Blog for an application to make it easier to create the code needed to consume a web service.

Hope that helps,
