Connection to server times out every couple of minutes

We’ve got 20 servers in our environment, and about 10 of them are in remote locations around the world.

I can connect to the servers without any problem.

However, something annoying happens frequently on all the remote servers and I wondered if there was an advanced TCPIP configuration to fix the issue.

When I open the log file of say a remote server in South America, it takes a few seconds to open up on first open. I expect the slow open and view build. NO PROBLEM.

However, if I’m looking through one of the log entries and reading it for, let’s say 2 minutes, then I go to view the next document in the list, the Notes/Admin client will try to find the document and the lightning bolt will come on and the connection will eventually timeout.

If I click CTRL+BREAK to stop the client from trying to search, and then try and re-open the document, it’s like it’s starting a new connection to the server and it works fine.

This does not happen if I view several documents without such a 2 minute pause.

For example, if I look through several documents, just opening them, one after the other…there is no timeout.

It is like there is some sort of TCPIP cache that is slowing things down.

Any ideas?
