Recently set up a 7.0.2 server that seems to allow Internet mail to be sent to a user if any part of the name is recognized in the Person document. I’ve done tests on other servers not yet running 7.0.2, and can’t seem to mimic. Is there a configuration setting I’m forgetting?
Basically, I have a user named John Smith. His short name is jsmith, Internet address is jsmith@company.com, and his Full Names are:
John Smith/Org
John Smith
JohnSmith@company.com
John Smith/OLDOrg
I would like to user to recieve Internet mail at jsmith@company.com and johnsmith@company.com, but I do not what him to receive mail at John@company.com, Smith@company.com, john.smith@company.com, or john_smith@company.com.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Subject: Configuration or Server setting to prevent part of a users Full Name from being used as a deliverable email address
You may want to take a look at the Server Configuration document within the NAB. - Router/SMTP Tab
Subject: Configuration or Server setting to prevent part of a users Full Name from being used as a deliverable email address
To do what you are looking to do you would need to set the ‘Address Lookup’ setting in the configuration document to ‘Fullname only’. Then assign each user a main internet address in the Internet Address field. Any additional email addresses should be specified as an alias in the Fullname field. If you set ‘Address Lookup’ to either setting that contains ‘local part’ then Notes will lookup on just based on the part to the left of the ‘@’ symbol and can match periods and underscores to spaces (see excerpt from Domino help below).
The Router searches the Domino Directory for a match of the local part of the Internet address, that is, the part before the @ symbol. Local part matching matches periods and underscores in the address with spaces in the directory.

Thank you!
I changed the address lookup to “Full name only,” told the router to reload the configuration, and now John Smith is no longer receiving messages addressed to John@company.com, Smith@company.com, john.smith@company.com, or john_smith@company.com.
He continues receiving messages addressed to his specified InternetAddress, as well as the alias internet addresses that have been added to the FullName field in RFC 822 format, which is exactly what I want.
Thanks again!!
