Config Domino as Win Service after setup error

Greetings,I know this ground has been plowed before, but I have a problem that I haven’t seen addressed in the forum and hope someone has a solution.

First, a 'fess-up. I installed fresh 6.5.4 code after a disk rebuild, and failed to select “Install Domino to run as a Service.”

From tech note 1160554, I’ve executed ntsvinst with parameters, and the “Lotus Domino Server” appears as a Windows service.

When I attempt to start the service, the following message appears:

“This server has already been configured. To change configuration settings for this server, you must use the Domino Adminstration client.” An “OK” button is offered and when clicked the server does not start.

Domino Admin client offers nothing in the server configuration document that seems relevant.

Any ideas on how to work this out?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When you say you started the Notes Administration client are you referring to ‘nlnotes.exe’ located in the Domino programs folder?

Also you could try clearing out the Notes.ini file in the Domino directory and leaving the following lines only:

[Notes]

NotesProgram=

Directory=

KitType=2

InstallType=x

InstallType… where x should be replaced with appropriate server type you have installed:

3=Domino Mail Server

4=Domino Enterprise Server

5=Domino Application Server

Clearing the Notes.ini file should force the setup to run again.

Alex–

It appears this is the only approach available. We’ll give it a shot.

Thank you for the reply.
