Computed fields

Hi all,

In my main form, I have created some computed field and have given them, the default value “1” because I wanted to calculate their value via Lotuscript.

So, in PostOpen script, I have several computed fields that are initialized like mydate=now() or also mynum= num+1 (where num comes from a unique document that contains a counter increase at each document’s creation)

For 2 documents, none of these fields has been initialized.

I am looking for the reason.

The script is quite simple and that made two years that 200 persons use the database. with no problem

I can not understand why for these 2 documents, computed fields were not computed.

Does someone have an idea or a similar experience ?

Did I make wrong to computed them via lotuscript ?

All works fine during 3 years… so , I guess that a special contexte explains this bug (domino serveur down, network connexion down …).

Hi

Is your code into an agent ?

We have some suckers here who presses the Ctrl-Pause during everything they considering being too slow…

maybe…

I would change the fields, to have a “default value” (its not really a default value if the fields are really computed, its just the fields value - might be worth checking the type!!!), of the fieldname. E.g if the fieldname is FieldName, give the field a default value of FieldName

the question is not stupid (the answer yes)

Is it a computed field, a non-editable field, or only a default value. ???

Hi and thanks for answerig,

for all these fields the type is “computed at creation”.

In the field value I just put a “1”, because it seems that the default value can not be empty.

Ok, that is normal. But I have choosen this type “computed at creation”, only to be sure that the value will not change after the creation.

I could compute the value thanks to formula but I decided to compute it via the PostOpen Script (so no, Yannick, the script is not in a agent).

Instead of 1, put the fieldname

ok thank you both.

I will try the solution proposed by “Generic Notes Developer”

thanks again

ok

My first opinion was against the GD answer above…

Finally I’m right, and yes, I admit, I did not read the PostOpen thing in your post.

Sorry…
