Compiling multiple documents into a single document.PART 2

Hi,

As regards to the earlier post, i decide to repost it in a “hopefully” clearer manner.

  1. The end user will be given a form which will be label as section 1 with some fields to be filled in. Thereafter, he can choose to have a sub-section(1.1) or create a new section(2) which will be present to him in a new form.

  2. After that, when the end user press “Save” all the forms that he used, will be compile into a single document. With sections align accordingly eg. 1->1.1->1.1.1 , 2->2.1->2.2

Now i reali wonder if this is impossible to be done or not…because i still cant find a solution to this problem and i reali need help on this matter. Thanx

Yours

Hengshi,

Yes what you want to do is quite easy. You can either build a dynamic table in which you place the forms, or just a easy have a rich text field on the final form, and have your other forms render to rich text on this.

Naturally without seeing what is on your forms it is hard to tell the easiet way.

Hi thanx for the comments,

erm first to answer JR,

i need separate new forms for end user because the end user can choose between sub-section and section. And this is reali not my call, i have to fulfill the end user needs…haha

as for John,

thanx for the tips, I would like to summarize your idea. Correct me if i am wrong:

For my last final document which is used to compile all the forms, i need to create a rich text field and then give it a name call “rtfield”. Once the end user written something for some section, saved it and proceed on, i would have to append the whatever content they input in the form into the rtfield?

Yes, something like that. I had taken it that the user would only be doing this once. However it the user wants to be able to change a section, that to is easily done. just save the sections and use the doc id of the main document to link them. The if a user re-sequence them or add/change delete any of the 'sub-form’s then just simple rebuild you rich text item. Naturally you can always do this on the fly as to keep the one document smaller, however you did not specify if the user wants to be able to search on the fields.

In case you need this in a single document, then why are you inputting the data in the different form instead of the same form or the subform.
